My brother-in-law is from Tequila, which is a town in Mexico west of Guadalajuara. He has blue eyes and sandy blonde hair, but I never thought to ask how common that is in parts of Mexico.

I just found this thread and had to chime in. Its always been a plain, simple fact to me that in Mexico there are people that look "white" or have natural blonde hair or light colored eyes. This is true for all of Central and South America. We are talking about very diverse places here. It kind of surprises me that some people think all Latinos are mestizo. I guess it depends where you have spent some time. My family is from South America but I was born in the US. I was searching for info online about how the media perpetuates racial steriotypes for an essay I am writing for school. Anyways, I will keep watching this thread and my contribution for now is a picture of Cintia Dicker, brazilian supermodel: Last edited by Thyra; 04-12-2010 at 09:04 AM.. In fact: quite a few on them are shocked when confronted with a Nordic White Mexican.

I am trying to find my roots. I am a red-haired, light-skinned, freckled "white-looking" American woman from a light-skinned, traditionally Mexican featured father born in Chihuahua, Mexico and a dark-skinned, traditionally Mexican-featured mother born in Brownsville, Texas. I think that maybe I might have Menonnite German/Mexican ancestors. How can I find this out? Can anyone help?

Anyways, it's quite idiotic to think that all white people has to be blonde and blue eyed. Most white Mexicans come from Spanish stock and they are not blonde.

There are DNA blood tests you can purchase which can give you a better assessment about your actual heritage although the people in the Geneology forums here at city data know about which companies are best for that and at what costs etc?? |
